After little successful structural alteration works on the retail shop of "Bakery Striebe" in the early nineties, the shop was remodeled, extended and new designed in 1999. Preliminary researches showed that the building was originally erected together with the adjacent building as one house and the existing Fachwerk facade beneath the render was of equal magnificent occurrence.

The principals decided to expose the Fachwerk facade. Damages to the facade were serious. Wooden parts were refurbished, missing parts were reconstructed. The redesign of the Fachwerk facade on the first floor adapts to the expression of upper floor’s decoration facade, concerning structuring and dimensioning.

All works were done under inhabited conditions. Only the sale was organized provisional. The refurbishment period was planned precisely and the due-date followed accurately. The city Suhl awarded family Striebe with the monument award for refurbishing the facade.
