Philosophy
The expansion of Suhler Werkstätten gGmbH located in Suhl – Friedberg is the visible result of the successful workshop development. The order-bound industrial fabrication mostly in the area of metalworking is professional rehabilitation for disabled people at the same time.

Conditions of employment were crucially improved by the new construction of production hall, office and social wing, implicating the existing warehouse. Also possibilities to optimize workflow were opened up. Due to the complexity of planning, concerns of summerly and winterly thermal insulation were considered during the planning process of the building.

Structure
The new production facility consists of three elements:

Production hall with fixtures
Office and social building and
Existing warehouse.

The steel frames of the production hall have a free wing-span of up to 22m and carry the roof and walls made of aluminum thermal elements. The office and social wing is a two storied brickwork building. In the basement, which is directly linked to the production, there are restrooms and the recreation area. Locker rooms and offices are located in the upper floor. Internal rooms are lighted and ventilated through a skylight cupola. A stairlift inside the building guarantees barrier-free accessibility.
